 COVID-19 Guidelines

Pennsylvania State Resources

Will summer QV Camp contain both indoor and outdoor activities?

Because it is easier to follow social distancing practices most activities, including lunch, will happen outdoors when possible. While this decision is dependent on the activities planned by each individual camp leader, you can expect to experience both indoor and outdoor activities during summer camp. In the yellow and green phases, camps may hold activities both indoors and outdoors. Each camp will have access to an indoor classroom area in our Engel Education Center, as well as access to outdoor classroom areas on the farm.

What does social distancing look like for summer camp?

The Pennsylvania Department of Health acknowledges that social distancing will look different in youth programming. While campers will not always be six feet apart, we will follow their guidelines by doing the following:

  • Limiting our number of campers enrolled in each camp and keeping those campers with the same leader throughout the day

  • Hosting one camp at a time to limit the potential mixing and contact campers

  • Encouraging curbside drop off for campers. Camp staff will practice traditional social distancing with parents and guardians as they are dropping off their campers.

Will campers need to wear masks?

We are requiring that campers wear a face-covering during camp. Face coverings include masks, homemade masks, and bandanas tied to cover the nose and mouth.

CDC Resources
Quiet Valley is very excited to be able to host summer camp this year! Due to the limited number of campers and outdoor nature of QV's summer camp, we are considered a low-risk youth summer program. Each week we will welcome the same group of 10-12 campers every day and provide them with activities that encourage social distancing practices while still maintaining the standard of our past camp activities. We thank you for your patience as we deal with the changes in camp procedures as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The following Frequently Asked Questions gives an overview of our procedures specific to COVID-19. If you have any further questions, please contact Quiet Valley's Director of Education at Programs at 570-992-6161 or programs@quietvalley.org.

What does curbside drop off and pick up look like?

Every day, campers will be dropped off and picked up at the upper level of the Engel Education Center (located at 347 Quiet Valley Road). When you drop off your camper, their leader will meet them outside to meet the children and guide them into our classroom. Once inside, campers will put their belongings away and start their camp day by washing their hands. When picking up your camper, we ask that you do not enter the Education Center. Instead, please wait outside and campers will come out to meet you.

What sanitation practices will be in place this summer?

During camp, we will periodically be wiping down classroom surfaces and supplies, as well as promoting hand washing and sanitation throughout the day. Between each camp week, classroom areas will be fully sanitized  in preparation for the next week's campers.
